A RELIGIOUS PACKAGE
Spirituality is in essence an anodyne for the living soul. But
even then a visit to holy shrines and pilgrimage centres also
serves the purpose of rejuvenating your energies for good and
making you comprehend the divinity of the Almighty. We give you
the major pilgrim centers in south India that are historic and
also the most visited.
The important churches you could visit with us are the historic
Santa Cruz Basilica in Kochi which was built by the Portuguese.
Near this basilica is the centuries old St. Francis Church which till 1524 housed the mortal
remains of Vasco De Gama. Further north in Thrissur is the Our
Lady of Lourdes’s Metropolitan Cathedral and the Our Lady of
Dolour’s Basilica which is the biggest and the tallest church in
Asia. Near Thrissur is another famous town called Kodungalloor
where Apostle St Thomas is believed to have landed in 52 AD.
The St.Thomas Church here was built by the apostle. A visit to
the churches in Kerala will not be complete without a visit to the
very famous Malayatoor Kurisumuddy (St. Thomas Arch-diocesan
Shrine) which was recently recognised by the Vatican as an
international pilgrim centre. And then you could also go over to
Tamil Nadu to the very revered Velankanni Church in Nagapattinam
district.
A visit to the very popular and truly exquisite temples in Kerala
would be an elixir to the soul. The sacred places you could visit
are the majestic Padmanabhaswamy temple at Thiruvananthapuram, the
renowned Krishna temple at Ambalappuzha, the Tirunakkara Mahadeva
temple at Kottayam, the Chottanikkara Bhagawati Temple, the
Vadakkunnathan temple at Thrissur which is world famous for the
Thrissur Pooram, and the legendary
Sree Krishna temple at Guruvayur. Again at Kodungallur is the
Bhagawati temple that enshrines Bhagawati - considered to be a
manifestation of Kannagi of the Tamil epic Silappadikaaram.
